COURSE DESCRIPTION

ICHIYO SCHOOL OF IKEBANA
Anna Nakada, Master

OVERVIEW

This is a course of ikebana, or Japanese flower arranging, in the style of the Ichiyo School of Ikebana. The Ichiyo School is one of the world’s leading modern schools of ikebana, founded in 1937, based in Tokyo, Japan, offering a simplified, easy-to-follow method of learning ikebana that emphasizes a strong grasp of basic principles and techniques leading to the creation of freestyle arrangements.

The curriculum is offered at six levels – Primary, Secondary, Advanced, Research, Assistant Instructor and Instructor – each comprising 20 lessons, and there are post-instructor levels as well. Textbooks are available for the Primary through Research levels. Students who take this course are required to complete requirements for, and apply for, an Ichiyo School certificate before being allowed to advance to the next level.
